The First Personal Exhibition of the Visual Artist Cristian Crisbasan
A writer and a visual artist, Cristian Crisbasan opened his first public exhibition – “Nudes, Portraits, Dolls” – at the Ark Building, on the 14th of February, as a part of the event called “The Death of Cupidon”.
This exhibition was made possible with the help of Re:ply, the communication agency that makes Styler magazine together with Cristian Crisbasan, and Karoussel, the only gallery of photographic art in Bucharest.
Crisbasan’s work is, at the moment, better known abroad rather than in Romania, as the visual artist was nominated into a Taschen anthology as one of the best erotic photographers of the world. (The New Erotic Photography – 82 best photographers, Taschen, 2007).
The “Nudes, Portraits, Dolls” exhibition consists of 33 works considered by the author his most representative of the last years. Portraits of public figures appear next to nudes shot in ordinary locations, with no special lighting or gear, images that manage to capture the poetry of the models’ bodies. Next to these photos, a series of “dolls” inspired by the harajuku art can be admired; these are images of human nude bodies with doll faces.
“Crisbasan is an artist of vast culture and has a curious, alive, uninhibited spirit. Yet, he is a modest fellow. He was always more interested in making photography, rather than talking about it. This is why this exhibition was, first of all, our idea, his friends and colleagues, and Cristian joined the team later.” said Diana Capatina and Iulian Puiu, managing partners at Re:ply.
The exhibition is open until the 21st of February. The photos are displayed in the basement of the Ark Building, 196A Calea Rahovei. Visitors who would like to buy Cristian’s work should contact the artist or the Karousel Gallery.
